Mentorship // A Class on Spring Texture
A 1:1 mentorship with Emily of Autumn Bloom Design.
We spent the day working with La Belle Époque tulips, purple fritillaria, lilac, roses, and spirea, and rust ranunculus choosing them for the way they hold shape and create texture without feeling heavy. I shared my knowledge of bouquet technique and centerpiece design - which was then chowcased by our model to by captiued by our photographer Demi Eve photo.
The focus throughout the session was on texture, shape, and movement. Learning when to add, when to pull back, and how negative space can be just as important as the blooms themselves. Rather than aiming for symmetry, we looked at how the arrangements felt from different angles and how small adjustments could change the entire composition.
The in-between moments of the process: hands adjusting stems, pausing, stepping back. The goal wasn’t perfection, but understanding - how thoughtful movement and intentional choices lead to designs that feel natural, balanced, and etherial.
A testimonial from Emily:
“Doing a one on one mentorship with Merci Floral was such a fun and inspiring experience. I loved that she let me choose a design direction and color palette while still walking me through her own design process. She gave thoughtful tips on building a strong color palette and how to layer different textures and flower varieties to create depth and movement. She also taught me her full process when it comes to designing both bouquets and arrangements.
She made it very clear that I could ask her absolutely anything. We talked about how she captures content, what settings she uses on her phone, and the apps she uses when cultivating her Instagram and creating reels. Getting insight into both the creative and business side of florals was such a bonus.
On top of everything she created a really fun and relaxed environment that made me feel comfortable experimenting and asking questions. I left feeling confident inspired and excited about my floral abilities and growth.”
